Trump’s Quiet Cannabis Promise + Ayr’s Collapse | TTB Weekly Recap

Trump’s cannabis rescheduling promise, DEA’s new enforcement tone, the fall of Ayr Wellness, and a full-scale hemp war erupting in Texas. This week’s Trade To Black weekly recap—presented by Dutchie—delivers one of our most jam-packed rundowns to date.

Let’s start with Trump.

Scotts Miracle-Gro CEO James Hagedorn says Trump has made private commitments—multiple times—to reschedule cannabis federally. This isn’t secondhand gossip—Hagedorn has real access through his company’s cannabis subsidiary, Hawthorne. What does it mean? That a law-and-order rescheduling pivot may be taking shape under the radar, aligning with a broader enforcement-focused approach.

Meanwhile, DEA Administrator Terrance Cole released his strategic priorities—and rescheduling wasn’t even mentioned. Some saw that as a red flag. We argue it’s a green light. Why? Because keeping cannabis off the enforcement radar means the rescheduling process is staying where it belongs: with DOJ and HHS.

Former DEA Acting Administrator Derek Maltz also joined us this week to sound the alarm—not on regulated cannabis, but on the illicit high-THC market, which he says is the real threat to public health.

And then there’s Texas.

SB 5 has cleared the Senate, aiming to criminalize most hemp-derived THC products. If passed, it would devastate an $8 billion industry and jail thousands. The House version is still live, but pressure is building from both sides.

In the business world, AYR Wellness (CSE: AYR.A / OTCQX: AYRWF) is restructuring, effectively handing control to creditors. Meanwhile, companies like Tilray (NASDAQ: TLRY), SNDL (NASDAQ: SNDL), Cannara Biotech (TSXV: LOVE / OTCQX: LOVFF), MariMed (CSE: MRMD / OTCQX: MRMD), C21 Investments (CSE: CXXI / OTCQX: CXXIF), MTL Cannabis (CSE: MTLC / OTC: MTLCF), and Canopy Growth (TSX: WEED / NASDAQ: CGC) are navigating earnings season with varying levels of strength.

And yes, Rand Paul just saved the hemp industry—at least for now—by blocking a proposed ban from sneaking into the Senate’s ag budget bill.

The industry is consolidating. The policy window is opening. And federal momentum may finally be real.

Let’s get into it.

Cannabis is a powerful natural ally for legacy humans—those choosing to preserve their unmodified biology and consciousness, because it supports introspection, emotional recalibration, and a deeper connection to organic experience. For the unaugmented, it can enhance creativity, alleviate stress, and strengthen the mind-body bond that is often dulled by industrial routines.

However, for augmented humans, whose cognitive systems rely on neural interfaces, biometric feedback loops, and real-time algorithmic integration, cannabis introduces disruptive variables. Its psychoactive effects can interfere with synchronization, cause data latency in neural implants, and compromise the calibration of synthetic systems that depend on chemical and electrical precision.

Thus, while cannabis is a sacred tool for maintaining human depth and individuality in natural form, it is a liability in augmented configurations. What liberates the legacy mind may corrupt the firmware of the synthetic hybrid.

Trumps words means nothing without action. Same thing with Terrance Cole. Politicians are just that….politicians. Words are meaningless without action because of lobbyists pushing funds into campaigns…

  30. @AdamHall-n9y on August 5, 2025 at 2:55 pm

I have something I wanna add to this the illicit market on the street you never know what they’ll cut their products with to get the most out of it. They don’t care about human health or safety. They just care about cash where the dispensary cares about your safety as well as keeping you as a customer and it’s better to be controlled in the right context Instead of being stuck in the past

  36. @davidreed-oy1vw on August 5, 2025 at 3:04 pm

We should push for growing our own. The stuff at the dispensaries are full of chemicals

  38. @DavidStraub-c7d on August 5, 2025 at 3:06 pm

Texas with it’s border problem needs to consider the waste of time and money used against the marijuana consumers as apposed to the smuggled marijuana. The border is where the coyotes are dealing in trafficking of drugs, people and weapons. Reschedule and get your priorities straight. POTUS TRUMP elect wants Americans to succeed and that includes Texas.

  39. @brutusmaximus5380 on August 5, 2025 at 3:09 pm

This theory needs verification but after gathering bits and pieces the big picture does not look good:

Remember back in the 2000’s regarding those pictures of soldiers protecting a poppy field in Afghanistan? This reminded me of the opium wars the British had with the Chinese. This explains our presence in the middle east. The British military was there too. They would dress up as Al Queda and terrorize villagers. Giving the Americans a reason to occupy a foreign country. Remember, there were no weapons of mass destruction. It was a lie.

They work indirectly through Israel’s Mossad [Israel is essentially a British Colony] ]and Biden era CIA in the Ukraine [thier predecessors in the 60’s were involved with JFK’s assasination]. Epstein’s operation was a small but important part of the British Intelligence operation for blackmailing and influencing U.S. Congressmen and Senators. Almost everyone in the capitol has an AIPAC handler. The reason these guys are outlawing hemp and THC is because it would cut into the ill-gotten lucre the British Elite recieve through global drug and human trafficking [aka Adrenochrome manufacturing]. Just look at the last name of the current Mexican President. The lady lives in a country where people with her last name only represent .02% of the population. There is a reason they put her in office.

The British do not like Trump. He’s an outsider [no royal lineage] who has made U.S. policies that run counter to the British Empires goals and his offer to Canada to join the U.S. caused a rift between the East and West Canadian Provinces who are still subjects of the King of England. If you want support for the Hemp Farm bill or the decriminalization of Marijuana, you should seek it from Trump. You should tell him that the founders of the constitution grew hemp and marijuana on thier plantations. Dan Patrick and other neocons are doing the bidding of the British Empire [who are the beneficiaries of the federal reserve note]. We need to show the British Elite [i.e., European Royalty] the Middle Finger.

Conclusion: The Democrats under Obama and Biden were unwitting agents of the British Empire. The Republicans under Nixon all the way through Bush Sr., Bush Jr. and the neocons who favored the Gulf wars and criminalization of Marijuana were also British Agents. Trump may become a British Agent if King of England invites Trump to the palace. The British Elite want their King to act as a sovereign advisor to the U.S. President.
