Cannabis Stocks Reset After Options Expiry: What’s Next This Week | TDR Cannabis in 5

It’s Monday, August 18th, and the cannabis industry is starting a new week with momentum. Earnings season is behind us—and for once, it wasn’t a disaster. Operators held their ground, showing resilience across revenues, margins, and balance sheets. With the fundamentals intact, attention now turns to Washington.

The key question: will Donald Trump announce cannabis rescheduling, and if so, when? He recently confirmed his administration is “looking at it,” with a decision possible in the coming weeks. For investors, that means every appearance from Trump, the DEA, or the DOJ could move cannabis stocks.

Last week’s late dip wasn’t about weak earnings—it was market mechanics. MSOS, the U.S. cannabis ETF, was driven under $5 to burn option holders around the $4.50 and $5 strikes, reportedly pushed by Toronto desks. With OPEX behind us, the “shackles” are off and the group is free to trade on news again.

Beyond Washington, there are other catalysts to watch:
• States: Pennsylvania adult-use chatter, Texas hemp crackdowns, New York licensing fixes, and North Carolina medical progress.
• Enforcement: Raids and seizures that reinforce the regulated market.
• International: Germany imported record medical cannabis volumes in Q1 2025, even as regulators propose restrictions—an evolving dynamic for Canadian LPs like Tilray and Canopy.
• Corporate moves: Post-earnings 8-Ks, refinancings, and store updates.

Start your week with TDR Cannabis in 5, presented by Dutchie, as we break down the signals investors need to watch from August 18–22.

Spike once he changes the law… and then race to the bottom, mergers, bankruptcies 2026-2027.. and only the best with passion will survive MSO marketing

I’ve just started learning about value investing, Also , investing in S&P 500, I’ve found that many good stocks are undervalued despite their intrinsic value. If you had $100,000 to create a strong investment portfolio, which stocks would you choose for better returns??

Federal reform means the silo system in each individual state must eventually face the Interstate Commerce Act.

Lies, lies, and more lies. They regulate cigarettes, beer, wine, wiskey, oxycontin, vicodin, cocaine optic solution, and gambling. Hell, they regulate marijuana with the compassionate use of marijuana program here in Texas, which is still federally illegal. But they lie and claim they can not regulate LEGAL HEMP derived THC. Those lawmakers who vote for a hemp derived THC ban are ignorant tyrants. Why so many conflicting Laws? This shit makes zero sense at all.

I’m glad you made this video it reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to good home. From $10K to $110K that’s the minimum range of profit return biweekly I think it’s not a bad one for me

  23. @FrankDohertycyptonetworktv4 on September 7, 2025 at 4:30 pm

It’s common sense. In order to cut Fed must increase money supply. That spikes inflation. Bond holders then require higher yield on long term bonds which will cause long term rates to go up, while the fed is dropping short term rates. The fed obviously knows economics and knows this. But, their purpose is to save a dying economy at the expense of higher long term rates, until the collapse happens – in other words the rate cuts are designed to “kick the can down the road” at the expense of a worse collapse. The final conclusion can only be that this is a controlled collapse, engineered as the great economic reset with the participants being the fed, well for me tho Bitcoin is the ultimate defence against a tyrannical government I’ve been engaged in active trading and managed to grow a nest egg of around 1.3BTC to a decent 24BTC .I’m especially grateful to Claudia Hughes whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape…

Dear Friends of Jay Kai Ogden: THIS IS NOT INVESTMENT ADVICE, I RETIRED FROM BEING A FINANCIAL ADVISOR IN 2000…. This is a great report from a great source… You need to listen if you are interested in seeing MJ and Hemp become legal for adult use and medical treatment…. Mr. Trump is on the right side of this issue and he could make a move in the next few days and weeks….. Aloha, JK

  36. @StanMNdirt on September 7, 2025 at 4:43 pm

As someone who goes back to the sixties this financial approach to cannabis is insane. Personally I’d like to park on the corner and sell from my garden like the farmers do with produce. Thinking of a plant in this way doesn’t appear to work in the real world. Thank goodness nature is still hard if not impossible to monetize.

  37. @jimbojones9118 on September 7, 2025 at 4:44 pm

ITS a weed it growes any where

  41. @DavidStraub-c7d on September 7, 2025 at 4:55 pm

The waiting is the hardest part. I don’t mind age concerns but regulation needs common sense business wise so the consumer and the proprietor don’t have to be paranoid about the safety and legality. Potency shouldn’t matter like whiskey and beer or full flavor or light cigarettes. Thank you sir good show.

Thanks for featuring Coach Mary Sarres Nelson in one of your videos! I followed your advice, invested with her, and the results have been amazing. Started with under $25K, paid off my $209K loan in just 8 months, and now I’m debt free with two fully paid rentals. Huge thanks to Coach Mary SarresNelson!

Rescheduling is a big deal, but damn, this channel. You would think Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley are gonna come back to life at the same time soon. Give it a rest for at least a couple days.

  47. @leftphilange69 on September 7, 2025 at 5:02 pm

I have about $10000 worth of options in MSOS between $1-8 strike price that expire January 2027 with the majority of them strike price $2-5, so mostly in the money now, worth about $20K now because I bought at the lows. Another $20K in shares of Trulieve, Green Thumb, Verano, and a few smaller positions in companies like ACB, HITI, MRMD (because it’s unconscionably cheap right now), auxly, etc. Wish I had built a position in Curaleaf and Village Farms but I have some exposure to both in MSOS.

If we see a pull back from lack of news in the next few weeks, I’ll buy in some more. I think Green Thumb and Verano are still looking exceptionally cheap. I mean, they’re all cheap still. Curaleaf has 5x’d from recent lows.
